Vibro recognises that as a responsible business, it has a role to play in the communities within which it works. We actively serve people in need in our society through diversified community activities. The Hip Hing-Vibro Volunteer Team, established in 2001, mainly supports and cares for elderly singletons and children of underprivileged families. We encourage not only our staff but also their family members, retirees and subcontractors to participate in volunteer work. We also sponsor local charity events and community activities to promote wellbeing and a caring culture in the community.

Over 700 elderly people per year
Vibro has leveraged its resources and expertise to launch a skills-based volunteering programme, which provides household repair and maintenance and painting services for elderly people. Vibro has been working with the Tung Wah Group Hospitals to provide the services to elderly residents of Kwun Tong since 2012. We have served over 100 households since the programme started. The volunteers participating in this programme include Grade A electrical workers and painters from both Vibro and its subcontractors.

The Hip Hing-Vibro Volunteer Team has longstanding relationships with a number of partner organisations. We believe the continuing efforts of our volunteers helps to make a difference to the lives of the people our partner organisations support. Furthermore, by working with our partners on a recurrent basis we hope to contribute to the creation of sustainable benefits for the people that they serve.
One of the examples is the Shining Smile Peer Support Programme jointly organised by the Hip Hing-Vibro Volunteer Team and the YWCA, who we have partnered with for 8 years. The programme aims to deliver care to elderly widows living in Hong Kong Island East, helping them to build new social networks and improve their emotional health through different kinds of social activities. In 2014 -2015, 50 elderly widows joined the programme and attended life education seminars, physical and mental health workshops, tea gatherings and other social outings and activities. Vibro engaged social enterprises to conduct the seminars and workshops and has been pleased to see our staff members support this event continuously and develop friendships with the elderly people who have been paired with them.

Since 2008, Hip Hing-Vibro Volunteer Team have partnered with YWCA to host the annual Cantonese Opera Show. This cross-district cultural event is a continuous effort to promote local cultural heritage. It also encourages elderly people to engage and connect with the peers in their own and in other communities.
Around 80 Hip Hing-Vibro volunteers participated in the Cantonese Opera Show 2017 held in Ko Shan Threatre on 1 April 2017. They performed various duties like escorting elderly people to the venue, distributing house programmes, perform backstage support and act as MCs. Over 700 elderly citizens joined the event, mainly from the YWCA elderly daycare centers in Sai Wan Ho, Sai Wan, Ho Man Tin, Sham Shui Po, Tsing Yi and Fanling.
